Families Together has the right name

I have a 10-year-old son who is a client with Families Together, Inc. This agency has been a part of my family since my son was 7 years old. They have been wonderful since day one. When mental health reform began, they made me feel comfortable about the changes, like there was nothing to worry about.

My son and I have benefited from having the ability to choose between community-support providers. Families Together has been there whenever I needed them, no matter what day or time of day. They have allowed me (with my son) to drive the treatment he receives and maintain my son in the home. They really live up to their name. They truly keep families together.

My son has come a long way behaviorally, and I feel that if I didn’t have their support, he would not be in my home. I am so grateful … they really help when you need them, even if it is just to talk. They have helped me understand my son’s mental health needs as well as interventions and strategies to address them.

I ask the state to please maintain community support services. This service and this reform have allowed my family to not only survive, but to grow.
