When Jekyll Met Hyde returns to The Magnetic Theatre this week! Written by The Magnetic’s Artistic Director Steven Samuels as an homage to Charles Ludlam and his Ridiculous Theatrical Company. The script draws on every written, dramatized, and filmed version of Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic, and features an unusual feminist twist and a surprise ending. Even if you saw the original in its 2011 nearly sold-out run, you’ll want to catch it this time too. This all-new production promises a fresh take by honoring the source material’s Victorian setting and with an entirely new cast.
If it’s anything like it was in 2011, this show will knock you for a happy loop. The Mountain Xpress review of that production raved, “what you’re seeing is a minor masterpiece, a philosophical treatise disguised as a lewd skit.”
In honor of the split personality title character, we’ve got two pairs of tickets available to the opening this Thursday at The Magnetic Theatre. Bubbly will be served after the show.
