Results of District 2 hand recount show Fryar and Frost winning commission seats
The results of a Dec. 7 hand recount of all the ballots in District 2 showed Republican Mike Fryar in first place and Democrat Ellen Frost’s lead over Republican Christina Kelley G. Merrill growing slightly to 18 votes for the second spot.

Merrill wants Warren Wilson votes struck from certified results
In an official protest filed with the Buncombe County Board of Elections, Republican Christina Kelley G. Merrill alleges that hundreds of votes cast by residents of Warren Wilson College were illegally counted and should be struck from the certified results. *UPDATE* With recount complete, Davis edges out Gray by 35 votes in City Council race
UPDATE: A recount of the votes completed and certified by the Buncombe County Board of Elections this afternoon, Nov. 18, didn’t significantly change the results of the election. Incumbent Jan Davis retained his third place finish – and his seat on Asheville City Council – by a total of 35 votes over challenger Lael Gray.
