Early voting declines slightly as 1,171 have cast ballots in city primary
Early voting declined slightly from the last Asheville City Council primary, according to figures from the Buncombe County Board of Elections. This year, 1,171 citizens cast their ballots early. In the last primary, in 2009, 1,229 people voted early.
UPDATED Early voting ends, Buncombe County turnout: More than 35,000
In Buncombe County, 35,246 voters cast their early ballots, and most were Democrat and white, with an average age of 59, according to data gathered by the Civitas Institute’s Carolina Transparency Project.
