Several Asheville nonprofits assist women with breast and gynecological cancer by helping to pay for treatment-related expenses as well as transportation, rent and utility bills.
“We pamper our models and give them a chance to celebrate their beauty regardless of where they are in their cancer treatment,” says Sara Laws, event organizer and executive director of The Hope Chest for Women.
Since it began in 2003, Hope Chest for Women has provided more than $200,000 in assistance to women undergoing breast or gynecological cancer treatment in Western North Carolina — but organizers say they hope to do more.
