P&Z considers 20-house Shiloh subdivision and 130-room Tunnel Road hotel
Asheville’s Planning and Zoning Commission met on July 20 to consider a Shiloh subdivision and a 103-room hotel proposed for 49 Tunnel Road. The Commission voted to recommend City Council approve both zoning requests.
Council likely to postpone hearing on Haywood Street hotel
The public hearing scheduled for Council’s Tuesday, Jan. 10 meeting on the zoning request for a 185-room Embassy Suites Hotel at 192 Haywood St. has a “100 percent chance” of being continued until a later Council meeting, according to Asheville Mayor Esther Manheimer earlier today. No alternate date has been identified for the hearing yet, said City Clerk Maggie Burleson.
Resident opinion on short-term rentals as varied as rentals themselves
One commenter at the March 24 public forum on short-term rentals in Asheville likened outlawing the practice to the war on drugs, or teaching teenagers abstinence to prevent pregnancy.
