West African roots band Les Amis plays a set upstairs before acoustic, electric and collaborative sets by Dangermuffin and Weather and Waves fill Isis’ downstairs hall with earthy music. The separately ticketed shows on Thursday, Sept. 3.
Wates’ catalog, for example, ranges from folk-inspired albums to down-tempo ballads and most recently, theatrically delivered (and slightly off-kilter) musical tale-telling.
A host of local players converged on Echo Mountain this week to record music for the upcoming Sci-Fi thriller The Proxy. Multi-instrumentalist/producer/bandleader Ben Lovett organized and headed the session, which spanned two days in the converted church that now houses Echo Mountain’s primary studios.
