Asheville unveils new online development mapper

In the past, chasing down the answer to a nagging question about development in your area might have required making numerous phone calls or leafing through piles of documentation. Today, the city of Asheville announced a new online tool that provides the public with instant access to information about development across the city.

MapAsheville uses Geographic Information Systems technology to retreive detailed information about large-scale development projects, displaying them on multi-layered interactive maps. The electronic maps are accompanied by detailed information on meeting dates, as well as links to city staff documents. You can search by owner name, address or PIN number, and the technology allows you to measure distances, perform basic real estate research and even create mailing labels for a neighborhood gathering.

    Very cool
    Interesting how much of the city is not in a “neighborhood” does that mean those people are not as represented as others?

    There is only one neighborhood in Asheville that gets representation…DOWNTOWN. The rest is comprised of unrepresented taxpayers. (aka “the suckers”)
