The great yard sale atlas

Here’s a somewhat interesting local thing on the web, courtesy of the blog 1000 Black Lines. It’s the beta version of Asheville Garage & Yard Sales Map, a nifty website using Google Maps technology that allows people to post the location and description of their yard sales, and gives other people a way to find them.

But, are there really enough yard sales at any given time to make this project worth the while? Tell us your thoughts on the subject by posting below.

Very cool. Thanks for the plug.

I think there are enough yard sales in the area. Today there are almost 20, and a majority of them in the downtown area. If you can visit more than 20 garage sales in one Saturday morning I applaud you. I know I can’t.

Plus with all the emphasis on reuse and recycle in this area, a map of garage sales each week in your inbox is a nice thing to have. We built it because it was something I wanted to have for myself. Why buy new crap when I can just buy someones used crap at a fraction of the cost? ;-)
