Small Bites

The Grove Park Inn, which has been the backdrop for plenty of wine drinking over its century-long history, is getting into wine-making with the creation of its own private label. The first two wines—a 2005 Grove Park Inn Chardonnay and a 2004 Grove Park Inn Cabernet Sauvignon—will debut at a Thursday, June 14, dinner featuring Kerry Damskey, the Sonoma County winemaker who served as vintner. Tickets are $99; for reservations, call 438-5800.

The Weinhaus in Asheville is heading south this month to partner with Flight Wood Grill for a five-course wine dinner. The meal will feature specialties from the Hendersonville restaurant’s much-lauded wood-fired oven and grill. The Thursday, June 14, event begins at 7 p.m.; call 254-6453 for reservations.

Art of the visual and drinkable varieties will be on the auction block at Transylvania Community Arts Council’s upcoming benefit. “The Artful Palette Wine and Art Auction,” at the Community Arts Center on Tuesday, June 12, at 6 p.m., will feature art by 20 local artists, a wine tasting conducted by Main Street Ltd. and a wine auction hosted by Mayor Jimmy Harris. To make your reservation, call 884-2787.
