Unless you were one of the fortunate few to get tickets to last night’s debut performance by The Smashing Pumpkins at their nine-show Orange Peel residency, chances are you thought you’d never get to see even the slightest glimpse of the show. Thankfully, we live in the age of user-generated community content, which means that you can expect to see a number of live videos from the show hit the web any moment now.
One YouTube poster, Matt Sherrill, is far ahead of the pack. Sherrill uploaded a pair of short videos from Friday’s event earlier today, and hints that there will be more to come. The first video is a glimpse at the monstrously long line outside the Orange Peel, which wrapped around the building, then on to the curb, then around the corner. The second is a less-than-perfect, but still interesting, minute-long clip of the performance of the hit song “Today.”

Smashing Pumpkins will be playing the LiveEarth concert, July 7. It will be shown on the big screen at Asheville Pizza on Coxe Ave. as part of LiveEarth/Asheville. Not the same as the live show, but more than youtube.
