The WNC Community Energy Advisory Council will hold its second meeting on energy-efficiency strategies this Friday, July 20, from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. The meeting will include an overview of state regulation of electric utilities and updates on Progress Energy’s work to expand and market energy-efficiency programs.
CEAC meetings are open to the public and include a period for public comments on energy issues. Those interested in the ongoing energy discussion are also encouraged to visit Progress Energy’s Web site and to e-mail comments to the company at wnc@pgnmail.com.
Progress Energy Carolinas named the citizens panel in May to help the company implement energy-efficiency programs aimed at achieving 2,000 megawatts of efficiency and to advise the company on plans to meet the region’s electricity demands. The panel includes 18 members who represent local governments, environmental organizations, renewable energy companies and area businesses. The group is facilitated by Jo Anne Sanford, who formerly chaired the N.C. Utilities Commission.
The meeting will be held in Ferguson Auditorium at A-B Tech (340 Victoria Road in Asheville).
