Just in time for summer, Hendersonville’s One Love Jamaican has announced plans to open an eagerly awaited Asheville outlet. One Love Two will take over the South Market Street space currently occupied by The Ritz, the beloved home-cooking eatery founded by Erline McQueen in 1946. One Love, locally famous for its stellar versions of goat curry and oxtail stew, is slated to open next month. (See “Farewell to The Ritz” for more details.)
More than one-third of New Year’s resolution-makers abandon their goals by the end of January, citing lack of time and commitment, according to time management firm Franklin Covey. Further testing the willpower of those who manage to make it through one month of sticking to it, two new chocolatiers have come to Asheville. The French Broad Chocolate Lounge, 10 S. Lexington Ave., is serving an array of organic truffles, house-made pastries, sipping chocolates, beer and wine seven days a week. Call 252-4181 for hours and more information. And Kilwin’s, the national franchise specializing in chocolate, ice cream, peanut brittle and fudge, has announced plans to open on Battery Park Avenue on April 8.
