Local designer Alena Hennessy is known for her line of nature-inspired prints. Delicate florals, chubby birds, sweet bunnies and deer, lilting trees and whispery feathers grace wall hangings, totebags, scarves, tees and pillows — and the line of stylishly simple motifs continues to expand at Hennessy’s web-based store. But the artist, who also sells her wares through boutiques near and far (try L.O.F.T. at 55 Broadway St. and Zakya at 61 Haywood St. in Asheville), has recently joined up with national chain and catalog retailer Urban Outfitters. Her wall art triptych is available online, by mail and in stores, as part of the company’s artist series. (And, with Hennessy’s busy touring art show schedule taking her away to Rochester, N.H., New York City, Raleigh, N.C. and Atlanta, Ga. this spring, online might be your best opportunity to see her work for awhile.)
