Building your business in tough times

Asheville businesses may not be getting hit as hard as those in other cities and states, but that doesn’t mean that all is well. For businesspeople who’d like to stave off the economic downturn (at least a bit), then an upcoming program just might be the ticket.

On Tuesday, Aug. 19, the Asheville Area Chamber of Commerce will hold a “hot tips” session designed to help area small businesses increase sales, especially with the advent of the crucial fall leaf and holiday seasons bearing down.

According to a Chamber press release, the seminar will help you learn:

• The “M” factor times “3” to success, and how to get effective results from your advertising dollars not by spending more, but by spending a whole lot smarter.

• What direct marketing is and how small businesses can use it cost effectively to increase sales.

• A free opportunity to participate in a special targeted program for this fall and holiday season that will get your business directly into the hands of Asheville tourists.

Course instructors include Linda Brandt, of LB Marketing Services, a marketing professional with 25 years of experience. She provides marketing expertise to small and mid-sized businesses in all types of industries. Also included is Bob Perlstein, who has more than 35 years experience in direct marketing. Perlstein, says the Chamber, founded three successful companies that identified and provided niche marketing data and information used by small businesses and major corporations.

Cost is $20.
