The Mountain Area Information Network’s presentation “MAIN 2.0: Next Generation Community Network,” which had been scheduled for 6 p.m. Wednesday at Pack Memorial Library’s Lord Auditorium, has been cancelled, as the library is closing early today due to the weather.
The presentation will be rescheduled.
In the presentation, MAIN Executive Director Wally Bowen will talk about plans for the future of the nonprofit organization, which operates an Internet service provider and the low-power FM radio station WPVM. MAIN’s future includes offering a mobile broadband service and deploying a mesh wireless network in Asheville.
MAIN was recently awarded a $100,000 grant from the Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation and a $22,000 grant from the Media and Democracy Fund to continue its work.
