Friday the 13th, St. Patrick’s Day and the equinox? Big week. And it looks like it’s time for a beer war!
No. Not the kind of beer war implied in this drinking challenge over at Trap Door Into Dinosaur Pit, issued by Jar-e to fellow Asheville musicians Toubab Krewe.
More like the kind of blog beer war sparked by this poll for the title of Beer City U.S.A., where there is a tight margin (and a lot of discussion) for first place between Asheville and Portland.
And the heat is getting hotter. While Asheville blogs Bruisin’ Ales Beer Blog and Ashvegas are pushing for local votes, the Portland-based Beervana and The Weekly Brew are making the contest a bit more personal.
I mean, really, “Raise your hand if you’ve heard of Asheville?”
Well, our little city has been on a few lists. Of course, Portland has some accolades of its own.
Not that we’re against a little competition. Like many others in the Tar Heel State, the blog Everything Matters is living up to its name, with predictions for the winners and losers of March Madness.
Anyhow, we’re going to leave it up to the voters and just wish everyone good luck.
Speaking of luck, the onset of Friday the 13th twice in two months resulted in this rumination on superstition by Blue Ridge Blue Collar Girl and a bit ‘o the good luck over at Golden Sun Family.
