Buncombe County residents (and even their pets!) are now eligible for bigger discounts on prescription drugs thanks to a new card issued by the county and the Florida-based Financial Marketing Concepts Inc.
The Coast2Coast Rx card was unveiled in a press conference on Tuesday and is available to any Buncombe County resident. FMC Chief Marketing officer Martin Dettelbach says cardholders will save an average of 35.9 percent on prescription drugs at most Buncombe county pharmacies with the new card.
Actual savings will vary based on the prescription, but consumers should see an improvement over the 13- to 35-percent savings carried by the current BuncomeCountyRX card already issued by the county.
“We urge anybody who has used a discount card in the past to look at our new card,” said Buncombe County Board of Commissioners Chair David Gantt. “All you have to do is show us that you are a Buncombe County resident and you can get this card.”
The program comes at no cost to the consumer or the County, says Dettelbach, with the savings coming from reduced retail markups at cooperating pharmacies. In fact, he noted, his company and the county each receive funds from a dispersing fee on each transaction. The more customers use the card, he said, the larger percentage of the fee goes to Buncombe County. The card can be used for an entire family, and, Dettelback confirmed, pet meds available at pharmacies.
The Coast2Coast Rx card is available at county offices, libraries and pharmacies, and requires b fee on the part of the user (find locations and participating pharmacies at www.coast2coastrx.com/buncombenc).
Is there a way to compare this drug card’s prices with the card I found at http://www.rxdrugcard.com?
