Local author Susan Reinhardt wins international publisher’s award for Chimes from a Cracked Southern Belle

Grateful Steps Publishing House is very proud to announce that as author of the Asheville publishing house has been honored with a bronze medal award by the world’s largest international and regional book awards competition. Independent Publishers Book Awards (IPPY Awards) of Jenkins Group, Inc. have just been announced for 2014. Susan Reinhardt, Asheville’s beloved journalist, has won a bronze award in the regional category of Southeast Fiction.

Her book, Chimes from a Cracked Southern Belle, demonstrates her skill as a writer and humorist. It achieves what would ordinarily be a literally impossible literary task, that of presenting a tragic heroine in a continuously amusing light while never forfeiting sensitivity to the Southern woman’s plight.

Conducted annually, the IPPY Awards honor the year’s best independently published titles from around the world. The competition, launched in 1976, brings increased recognition to the deserving but often unsung titles published by independent authors and publishers.

Winners receive a celebration party in New York City at the end of May, medals, stickers, certificates and national publicity in major trade publications including Publisher’s Weekly and Shelf Awareness.

A popular speaker, Susan Reinhardt is available for interviews, as well as book signings, programs and readings. The book, is published by Grateful Steps, an Asheville-based nonprofit, traditional, independent publisher located at in downtown Asheville.

Chimes from a Cracked Southern Belle can be purchased in Asheville at Grateful Steps Bookshop and Malaprops. It may also be obtained online at www.gratefulsteps.org, www.susanreinhardt.com, www.Amazon.com and www.barnesandnoble.com.
