Press release from Park Ridge Health:
Park Ridge Health Ranked Among Top in the Nation for Patient Engagement
Hendersonville, N.C. (June 5, 2014) – Park Ridge Health has been ranked 22nd out of 3,077 health care organizations evaluated across the country in the inaugural National Patient Engagement Ranking by Becker’s Hospital Review and Axial Exchange. Out of all health care systems and hospitals evaluated, those with the top 100 scores were listed as best in the nation. Park Ridge Health was listed 22nd with a score of 81.1 out of 100. Patient engagement efforts were evaluated based on an analysis of publicly available data.
“We are thrilled to be recognized among other leading hospitals and health systems such as Mayo Clinic, Cleveland Clinic and Vanderbilt that are working toward providing patient-centered care,” said Jimm Bunch, President & CEO of Park Ridge Health. “Patient engagement is a key part of quality and cost reform in health care, and achieving excellence in clinical quality is dependent upon engaging our patients in management of their health.”
Patient engagement is defined as the process by which patients become invested in their own health. Health care organizations and hospitals recognized through the National Patient Engagement Ranking have found ways to connect and engage patients between encounters to improve patient health and clinical outcomes, while decreasing readmission rates.
Data evaluated to determine the National Patient Engagement rankings included readmissions, patient satisfaction, and the extent to which health care organizations offered information and tools that help engage patients in self care, including electronic medical records, patient portals, and electronic libraries of health content. Social media presence was also factored into a health care organization’s score.
“For more than five years, Park Ridge Health has been investing focused efforts into patient experience, and one important component of that is getting our patients actively involved in their own health,” said Camy Horrell, Director of Patient Experience at Park Ridge Health. “This ranking highlights the results of those efforts, and we are grateful to be recognized.”
