Press release from the Yoga Wellness Center:

The Yoga Wellness Center to Open Its First Location in Asheville, NC

A Holistic Healthcare Facility Based on the Vedas, the Ancient Healing Science of India

Asheville, NC: Today, The Yoga Wellness Center, LLC, a full-service holistic healthcare facility, announced that they have opened their first location in Asheville, NC. The center is located at 1636 Hendersonville road in the Walmart shopping center, just north of the Carolina theaters.

Dr. Abbas Rakhshani, PhD, the founder of the center, has spent 13 years in India training, practicing, and conducting clinical research in the field of mind-body medicine. He holds a doctoral degree in yogic sciences and has published several scientific articles in major peer-reviewed international journals. His research interests includes the effects of yoga in pregnancy, pain management, and stress management. Dr. Rakhshani is a frequent guest speaker at the UNCA Health and Wellness Department.

Regarding the view of yoga in the West versus the East, Dr. Rakhshani said: “The West has come to know yoga as a recreational exercise to stay fit. However, in the East, yoga has been used as a preventive medicine to manage lifestyle related disorders for thousands of years.” He further added: “This form of yoga is based on the Vedic sciences, the ancient literature of India, which covers every aspect of health, from diet and nutrition to exercise to the ways of handling life’s challenges.” The Vedic approach is perhaps best described by the World Health Organization’s definition of health, which states: “Health is a state of complete physical, mental, social, and spiritual well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.”

The Center’s Products and Services

The center will host a medical doctor, a nutritionist/dietitian, and a massage therapist. The team will work together to bring the clients to wellness. Regarding having both Western and Eastern therapies working under the same roof, Dr. Rakhshani said: “I believe the Western and Eastern approach complement each other- The Western medicine provide the best results in acute conditions, whereas clinical research has shown some of the Eastern therapies to be very beneficial in the management of chronic conditions.” There is also a small gift shop at the center that carries a line of yoga-related products, books, nutritional supplements, and gifts items from India.

The grand opening and ribbon cutting is scheduled for Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at 4 PM. All attendees will receive a gift certificate for free initial consultation worth $85. For more information call (828) 774-5150.
