In addition to Lexington and Rankin Avenue changes already mentioned in Xpress coverage, Static Age Records and gypsy-themed clothing store Vintage Moon will be relocating further down Lexington Avenue. Art and décor boutique Koi Koi has closed its doors entirely. Several blocks away, well-known restaurants Ed Boudreaux’s Bayou Bar-B-Que and Mo Daddy’s have also closed.

Um, ‘low life hippies’ don’t shop at expensive boutiques and fancy restaurants.
Also, several of the places are merely moving a few doors down on lexington.
All of this information is in the above article. (you have to read past the headline)
I don’t know what businesses you are referring to Jack but both Static Age and Vintage Moon are moving, not closing.
