Lisa Baldwin was joined by her family as she filed to run for re-election to the Buncombe County Board of Education on Monday, July 7, 2014 at noon.
With a passion for life-long learning, Lisa Baldwin stands committed to ensuring the Buncombe County School System equips and challenges every student to discover their individual gifts, strive for excellence, and reach their full potential. She says, “As a mother of four and an economist, high academic standards and education dollars focused on teaching and learning are of the utmost importance to me.”
Lisa is a former economist with the USDA and her husband, Richard, is an IT Specialist at NCDC. Their oldest son, Taylor, is getting his Ph.D in engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Son, Andrew, is an engineering major at NC State and daughter, Madison is following in her two older brothers’ footsteps, recently graduating from A.C. Reynolds High School as the valedictorian. She will attend NC State, also. Youngest son, Will, is a rising sophomore at ACRHS.
“Just as I have encouraged my children in their academic endeavors, I am committed to ensuring the success of every Buncombe County student.”
Lisa Baldwin plans to continue building on her successes, “I look forward to another four years of advocating for students, teachers, parents and the community, continuing to work with my colleagues on the Board to raise academic standards, improve fiscal responsibility, increase transparency, promote community input, and create safer, healthier schools.”
