A stabbing at Mike’s Side Pocket has left part of Haywood Road closed down as police investigate. The Asheville Police Department claims it’s too early to release details, but that “there’s no current danger to the public.” While an observer on the scene says at least one person is dead, and a source says that another died in the emergency room, these are not yet confirmed.
News of the stabbing broke around 10 p.m., when West Asheville residents saw police outside the bar and blocked off the street. Zen Sutherland, observing the scene, tweeted “police talk to Mike’s Side Pocket co-owner, where apparently one stabbing related death tho 3+ victims,” along with the above photo.
According to a source familiar with the situation and wishing to remain anonymous, another victim from the stabbing died in the emergency room. These details are not confirmed. Xpress will post more information as we receive it.
