The owner of Adam Dalton Distillery on Biltmore was charged with possession of a controlled substance — psilocybin mushrooms — this weekend. The bar owner maintains that the mushrooms in question did not belong to him. According to the Citizen-Times report, the distillery and bar is “operating normally.” However, warrants indicate Dalton received an Alcoholic Beverage Control violation for allowing a controlled substance in an ABC-licensed business. From the AC-T:
“The owner of a downtown craft distillery is facing drug charges after state Alcohol Law Enforcement agents visited the business Saturday.
Adam Garrett Dalton, 24, owner of Adam Dalton Distillery at 251 Biltmore Ave., was charged Saturday with possession of psychedelic mushrooms. He also faces misdemeanor drug charges, and an Alchoholic Beverage Control violation for allowing a controlled substance in an ABC-licensed business, according to warrants at the Buncombe County magistrate’s office.
Dalton was released from the Buncombe County Detention Facility after posting an $8,000 bond.
He said the drugs did not belong to him, and he was reviewing surveillance video to determine their origin.
‘I’m trying to find out who the drugs belong to,’ Dalton said. ‘They weren’t mine.’
He said he was arrested ‘because they were on my premises.’ The bar and distillery are operating normally, he said Sunday.”
