On August 20, 2012 at 2:19 in the afternoon an argument over money led to a shooting in Deaverview Apartments in west Asheville. The suspect, 33 year old Deaverview resident Dallas McBride was angry because the victim, Ervin Moore owed him money. The argument led to McBride shooting Moore in the leg. Moore was later treated at Mission Hospital for the gunshot wound. Detectives obtained warrants on McBride for assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and possession of firearm by felon.
On September 13, 2012 at 03:06 am Asheville PD Officers stopped 28 year old Travis Donnell James of 177 Deaver Street for a traffic infraction. James ran from the traffic stop on foot but left behind a handgun and his identification in the car. Officers obtained warrants for possession of firearm by felon and he also has another warrant for assault by pointing a gun.
