To show local animals you care today, all you have to do is dine out.
More than 60 local restaurants will donate 15 percent of their proceeds from Tuesday, March 10, to Asheville Humane Society for the nonprofit’s annual “Dine to be Kind” fundraiser. Funds raised at the event support the organization’s ongoing efforts to make Buncombe County a no-kill community.
And there’s no need to worry about what you order — money from all food and drinks purchased at the restaurants will go toward the fund — breakfast, lunch, dinner — even take out orders and bar tabs.
Sponsored this year by Meridian Animal Hospital, this is the 12th year of the popular event, which raised nearly $30,000 in 2014. And the Humane Society stresses that this could not be done without the event’s volunteers, or “Restaurant Ambassadors,” who pulled in almost one-third of last year’s funds by greeting diners at participating restaurants and explaining the organization’s goals and needs — and what their money will be used to accomplish.
Asheville Humane suggests bringing a large group of friends, family or coworkers to the table with you — because for today, it’s not just the more the merrier, but the more people raising money for happy, healthy animals. Too busy to dine out today? You can donate directly to the cause here.
