Elise and Phil Okrend present “Messages to the Heart” at Blue Ridge Books, April 25

Husband and wife authors Elise and Phil Okrend share their coffee table book, Messages to the Heart, Reflections of Beauty and Truth in 2014, at Blue Ridge Books (152 S. Main St., Waynesville). The event is on Saturday, April 25, at  3 p.m.

Press release from the book store:

Asheville couple, Elise Okrend and her husband Phil have a passion to help others find their own personal truths. Elise, a pastel painter and Phil, a writer and professional life coach came together to produce and release the inspiring coffee table book, Messages to the Heart, Reflections of Beauty and Truth in 2014.

The book, which pairs Elise’s soothing pastel landscapes with Phil’s mindful, poetic passages, is divided into specific chapters that speak directly to the reader’s soul. Chapters include Reflections on Following Your Heart, Unity, Love, Optimism, Transformation, Awareness and Empowerment.

Now, the Okrend’s have incorporated the art and words from their book into live programs and workshops.  Blue Ridge Books of Waynesville, NC is delighted to host the Okrends for a one hour program on Saturday, April 25th from 3:00pm-4:00pm.
During the programs the Okrend’s show Elise’s original art and read the accompanying passage.  The Okrends say that the combination of art and words has a visceral effect that prompts participants to go deeper into their experience, where they are reminded of the “ah-ha” moments of truth and beauty in their own lives.
