From Carolina Public Press
Event announcement
Carolina Public Press, the online nonprofit news service providing in-depth and investigative reporting, will hold “Digging Deep with Charles Lewis: Why Investigative Reporting Matters” on Thursday, May 14, from 6:30-8 p.m. at The Crest Center in Asheville.
The event features a presentation Lewis, one of the nation’s top investigative journalists, who will discuss the impact hard-hitting, nonpartisan investigative reporting can have at the local, statewide and national level — and on a variety issues facing our communities, from national security to education to the environment. Lewis, who is the founder of The Center for Public Integrity, was named as “one of the 30 most notable investigative reporters in the U.S. since World War I” by the Encyclopedia of Journalism. He also recently helped to create the Investigative News Network, which now consists of more than 90 nonprofit news publishers.
Tickets are $15 for the presentation only. Tickets are also available for a prior cocktail party, which will be held at The Crest Center in Asheville from 5-6 p.m. on Thursday, May 14. The $50 admission price for the party includes entrance to the presentation. Ticket purchases will help support the work of Carolina Public Press, the only online nonprofit news organization devoted to investigative reporting in Western North Carolina.
