Existence in the modern world fills us with distractions: phone calls, emails, i-gadgets, newsletters and high-speed everything. Our awareness is often elsewhere, not tuned into the shifting of the seasons, the birdsongs, the needs of ourselves and those around us — and the destruction in which we are all too often implicated.
In the midst of this, we do have opportunities to come back to our senses and co-create a culture that is grounded in place and that feeds the life within and around us. This is what we hope Firefly Gathering will lend itself to.
The Firefly Gathering is an annual event that offers opportunities for people to deepen and expand connection with the natural world through workshops, networking, and more. The focus of the Firefly Gathering is ‘earth skills,’ a broad term that includes everything from wilderness survival to contemporary homesteading, traditional and primitive crafts, herbalism, along with practical, do-it-yourself knowledge. The eighth annual event will be held from June 25 to June 28 in the mountains of Barnardsville, a half an hour from Asheville, NC. All tickets are based on a sliding-scale pricing system to make Firefly accessible for all.
This year we’re offering a special discount for people who purchase tickets early. Until May 15 full admission tickets for adults costs $175-$425. After May 15 full admission tickets for adults will cost $200-$450.
An admission ticket for the entire four-day event includes camping Thursday through Saturday night, eight class sessions over four days with expert teachers from across the country and evening entertainment each night. After the event we’re offering four four-day post-camp intensives. The post-camp intensives will be from June 30-July 3. The classes are: Basics of bow-making with Nate Brown, Introduction to wild-crafted art materials with Nick Neddo, Primitive Blacksmithing with Barron Brown and Intuitive Plant Medicine Immersion with Asia .
