The Asheville City Council will discuss possible changes May 12 to parts of the city’s Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) that govern short-term rental and homestays.
Council will accept public comment at its regular meeting. Based on Council’s instructions, staff will draft amendments for the Planning and Zoning Commission. Following P&Z’s action, Council will then take final action on any changes to the UDO.
More than 150 members of the public attended a special March meeting to discuss short-term rentals.
Current regulations allow property owners to offer residential units to the public for rent for less than 30 days if located in non-residentially zoned areas.
At its May 12 meeting, Council will also decide whether to approve the $90,000 purchase of police body cameras. This purchase will be based on equipment standardization through 2019.
