337 residents of the city of Asheville participated in the Citizen Survey this year and the results were just announced. The survey (also undertaken in 2008) focuses on the “livability” of Asheville and the results are covered in the following reports:
The Community Livability Report covers quality of life in the city; the characteristics that make the city livable, attractive and a place where people want to be; how well the government of Asheville meets the needs and expectations of its residents; how connected the residents of Asheville are to the community and each other; and four questions of special interest to the city, including rating the importance of several potential investments.
The Dashboard – Summary of Findings summarizes the findings of the Community Livability Report.
Geographic Crosstabs compares data by zipcode.
Demographic Crosstabs compares data by number of years lived in Asheville, annual income, renters vs owners, and age.

Technical Appendices provides a full description of methods used to garner the results.
The survey was undertaken by The National Citizen Survey, a collaborative effort between National Research Center, Inc. and the International City/County Management Association. The survey and its administration are standardized to assure high quality research methods and directly comparable results across The NCS communities.
