From the Southern Appalachian Office of The Wilderness Society:
(BREVARD, NC) – The Southern Appalachian Wilderness Stewards (SAWS) a project of the Southern Appalachian Office of The Wilderness Society in Sylva, North Carolina will be the featured nonprofit organization at Oskar Blues’ Making a Difference Monday program at the Oskar Blues Tasty Weasel Taproom in Brevard. On Monday, October 21 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm ten percent of sales in the Tasty Weasel Taproom will be donated to SAWS to further its trail stewardship and restoration work in the Southern Appalachians.
SAWS leaders and participants will be on hand demonstrating cross-cut saw skills that they use when building and maintaining trails in Wilderness areas. They will be available to discuss SAWS’ work in the national forests of the Southeast and those interested can sign up for future SAWS Trail Crew volunteer events.
The evening is also a Mountain Music Monday at Oskar Blues and features a bluegrass jam from 6:00pm to 8:00pm open to all ages. Public parking is available at Oskar Blues.
SAWS is a project of The Southern Appalachian Office of The Wilderness Society, dedicated to providing stewardship to areas designated and managed as Wilderness on our glorious public lands. SAWS is both an organization, and a growing tribe of Wilderness Stewards emerging from a new and diverse generation, committed to advocating for protected public lands and serving those lands through stewardship efforts.
