On Saturday, Dec. 19, Medea’s Espresso & Juice Bar will celebrate the holidays and kick off the cafe’s new nonprofit venture — and the community is invited.
“This year we at Medea’s have so much to be grateful for, especially you, our amazing customers!” reads the event page.
Guests will be treated to music from Molly Holder, a classical violinist and Hendersonville teen. And local chocolatiers from Dr. Cacao will bring samples of raw cacao truffles and hot chocolate.
Other than hot chocolate, Medea’s will offer Holiday Kvass, a Slavic and Baltic fermented beverage commonly made from black or regular rye bread.
“If any of you have ever been to one of our fermentation classes, you have tried our Fruit Kvass,” the owners wrote on their Facebook page. “We have just cleared hurdles … so that we could sell it. Our first batch should be ready and will kick it off at the holiday celebration!”
However, Medea’s owners note that the first batch of Kvass is not for sale: The company will be accepting donations to its new nonprofit project: The Foundation for REAL Food.
The foundation is, according to the event page, “the creation of an educational nonprofit focused on teaching farm-to-table cooking classes throughout Western North Carolina.”
In addition to food and drink, members of the community will be able to get in some last-minute shopping, with an “amazing selection of local art, photography, pottery and natural body care products.”
The event begins at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 19, and is held at Medea’s Espresso & Juice Bar, 200 Julian Lane, Suite 220, in Arden.
