Asheville’s white trolleys will soon be red: Gray Line Asheville acquires historic trolley tours

Asheville, NC. – February 20, 2014. Howard and Deborah Helmken, owners of Gray Line Trolley Tours of Asheville, “The RED Trolleys,” announce the acquisition of Asheville Historic Trolley Tours, “The White Trolleys,” from owners Irven and Tom Stevenson. The transaction closed on Monday, February 17th.

The Helmken’s, together with son Jonathan, now the company’s General Manager, opened the business in 2007. Prior to opening the company in Asheville, the Helmken’s owned Gray Line Savannah (GA), which they operated for over 25 years.

The acquisition will increase Gray Line’s fleet from six trolleys to nine.
