Daniel joins Free Range Asheville for a conversation and reading followed by a performance by his band Pujol at Ole Shakey’s.
Daniel Pujol writes poetry/prose, makes albums, and performs music. His band, PUJOL, is a Southern Gothic rock band from Nashville, TN. “Expansive, artistic, and smart, PUJOL are the thinking man’s punk band, packing energy and genre-bending sensibilities into releases that find a surprising amount of substance and depth.” – Philip Obenschain. PUJOL has released numerous singles, EPs and LPs on labels including Third Man Records, Infinity Cat Recordings, and Saddle Creek Records. Daniel’s writing has been published by The Nashville Cream, Third Man Books, Sobotka Literary Magazine, and The Walrus, etc. PUJOL’s newest release, KISSES, is a blend of writing and music. Daniel Pujol’s 2015 release KLUDGE, was recorded in a music venue near Nashville that doubles as a teen crisis center. Russell Bates from Sound it Out describes the record as “stripped-down, high-energy garage rock with artful lyrics and a wry sensibility. His vocal and instrumental style evokes Rocket From the Crypt and Supergrass, but his sound is more idiosyncratically lo-fi and his material more eclectic than either.”
