Name of Event: Hare and Hounds 5K Fun Run/ Walk/ Skip or Somersault Event
Date & Time: June 25th at 9:00 AM – for all ages and skill
Location: Asheville School campus and wooded trails, 360 Asheville School Rd, Asheville, NC 28806
Description: a fun running game where a “hare” marks a trail and the hounds have to follow it.
The rabbit is devious as he likes to mess with you. At a fork in the trail or road, one might have to go a distance before finding the trail again and when the runners are back on it, they start howling like a hound. The others catch up and they’re off again on the trail … until the next fork. Strategy plays a key role in this game. It is fun for the whole family or competition among friends.
One can walk, run , sprint, skip or somersault the whole course … whatever suits their skill and endurance. The total distance is approximate 5K plus or minus their “tracking” abilities. While the run will be timed, this will be for bragging rights only. The distance won’t be certified nor will the hounds noses. At the finish line, we will have a celebration with some liquid refreshments and light snacks.
