PRESS RELEASE FROM WHITE HORSE BLACK MOUNTAIN:
Multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter Jay Brown often performs as the sole member of the Jay Brown One-Man Band, but he enjoys the opportunity to play along with his favorite local musicians. For the monthly Mountain Made Music series Brown invites distinctive regional songwriters to share the White Horse Black Mountain stage, and the August edition will feature Aaron Price on Monday, August 15 at 7 p.m.
Aaron Price is not a prolific songwriter, but what he lacks in quantity he makes up for in quality. The talented musician and producer plays bass, piano, and guitar and is currently rolling out a number of new songs for an upcoming CD release. Sometimes called “the man behind the Asheville sound”, Price has produced albums by the Honeycutters, Malcolm Holcombe, Stephanie’s Id, Kellin Watson, Carey Fridley and more. In addition to fronting his own band, Kill the Clock, Aaron also plays with The Outliers, The Wham Bam Bowie Band and The Zealots.
Ketch Secor of Old Crow Medicine Show calls Jay Brown “the most authentic songster to come out of the Carolina High Country since a man named Doc Watson.”
A singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, he has hundreds of classic songs in his repertoire as well as a hundred-odd originals. Brown’s musical tastes and talents are wide ranging, as evidenced by his membership in the Boone-based roots band The Lazybirds, Indian-flavored world music group Shantavaani and early-jazz cats Swing Guitars. In 2007 he founded The Jay Brown One-Man-Band, in which the sole member handles vocals, guitar, harmonica, percussion and piano.
Show starts at 7 p.m. Tickets are $8.
