Press release:
The Awesome Foundation of Asheville opens grant cycle
The Awesome Foundation of Asheville is calling for all types of artists who are interested in competing for a $1000 grant. Our next grant cycle will be looking exclusively at artists who are looking to make their community more awesome. Whether it’s creating the next fabulous mural downtown, having a performance piece on Pack Square, or having a workshop for kids to create pottery that they otherwise wouldn’t be able to attend, we’re looking for cool projects that will promote the great arts community we have here in Asheville.
Artists should focus on projects that will make their community more awesome (not just their studio or portfolio more awesome). We will judge the projects on 3 criteria: creativity, feasibility, and impact on the community.
Deadline for applications is June 18th. Individual artists as well as groups of artists can submit applications at: awesomeavl.com
We will choose a group of finalists to present at a pitch party on July 9th. At the pitch party, artists will have 5 minutes to present their projects followed by a quick Q & A session.
