Help shape the Western North Carolina Historical Association’s future

Press release from the Western North Carolina Historical Association:

Over the coming months, we will be working hard to determine the path the Western North Carolina Historical Association (WNCHA) will take into the future. This will be no easy task as we take many opinions and factors into account.

To get us started you need to know what it is that we do. The best way to figure that out is to look at our mission statement: Our mission is to educate the public by promoting the preservation of regional history through the collection, care, and exhibition of artifacts that tell the history of the mountain region; the presentation of public programs; the care and interpretation of the Smith-McDowell House and historic Olmsted grounds; and the facilitation of cooperation among regional historical organizations (verbatim from our articles of incorporation.) That says a whole lot, but, how do you think we complete this mission? What steps do you think are right for us?

If you are a member of WNCHA, we’d love your guidance! We will soon be preparing a simple, short, yet very important online survey. Association members will be able to voice their opinions on a variety of topics. Everything will be on the table including what programs we will offer, types and kinds of historic exhibits at Smith-McDowell House, youth and adult education programs offered and what community functions and events you would like to see offered and promoted by WNCHA. Be putting some thought into things now. If you are not a member, be sure to become a member and have your voice heard! Email tim@wnchistory.org for additional information.
