Press release from N.C. Mountain State Fair:
The N.C. Mountain State Fair will be closed Monday, Sept. 11. Fair officials made the decision Sunday in conjunction with state emergency management, local safety personnel and law enforcement.
“We have been monitoring the path of Hurricane Irma closely over the past week. For the safety of our fairgoers, exhibitors and staff, we have decided to close the fair on Monday, Sept. 11,” said Fair Manager Matt Buchanan.
The fairgrounds will be closed to everyone, except fair staff and emergency personnel, starting Monday at 10 a.m. Fair officials will inspect the fairgrounds Tuesday and assess any damage that may have occurred during the storm. A decision about reopening the fair will be made at that time.
Future updates will be available at www.mountainfair.org and on the fair’s Facebook page.
