Making Your Business Legal/Tax Compliance. Starting and running a small business can raise a number of legal questions. This seminar is designed to give a small business owner or anyone contemplating starting a business an overview of legal and tax issues they may encounter and how to address those issues. It will cover choosing the right structure for your business, managing risk through proper insurance coverage, and complying with relevant state and federal laws. It will also cover the basics of maintaining proper financial records, the tax implications of various business structures, and the steps needed to ensure tax compliance. Tax Planning for Business. Have you ever been surprised about what you owe the IRS come tax time? This workshop will teach you ways to eliminate unwelcome surprises by knowing what your tax bill is likely to be, and help you identify ways to create a budget ahead of time. We’ll also discuss ways businesses can reduce the amount of taxes they owe, and how those tax savings can be harvested by business owners. Building Your Business’ Strategy and Business Planning. Building and periodically reviewing your strategy will help you grow your business and keep it competitive. This course will outline the elements a strategy must have and why those elements are important. It will also discuss how to periodically review and update that strategy. To make the concepts in the course clear and usable, we will also create a strategy for a sample small business and show you how to measure key performance indicators. Financial Planning for Starting a Business. Learn how to construct an opening balance sheet, profit & loss statement, and sources & uses of cash statement for a start up (or on going business) to assist in managing the enterprise, capital raising, incentivizing key employees, etc. We will also identify and compute key financial metrics to help in building balance sheets as well tracking a company’s financial health and solvency.
