Documentary on affordable health care screens Oct. 13 in Asheville

Press release from AARP North Carolina:

AARP in the Mountain Region is hosting a free screening of Power to Heal, a one-hour documentary about the dramatic and historic struggle to secure equal and affordable health care for all Americans. Narrated by Danny Glover, this story is how a new national program, Medicare, was used to mount a momentous, coordinated effort that desegregated thousands of hospitals across the U.S. practically overnight.

At the screening, AARP will provide refreshments, and host a post-screening conversation author Dr. David Smith and film producer Barbara Berney to further explore these historical issues and reflect upon current day challenges. The event is free, but registration is required at states.aarp.org/powertoheal
