Announcement from Asheville City Schools:
While doing routine maintenance this morning, staff members discovered Ira B. Jones Elementary School, Montford North Star Academy and Vance Elementary School are currently without water. The water pressure at Asheville Middle School is currently low.
Our Maintenance Department has spoken with the Emergency Dispatcher; however, the cause of the water outage is currently unknown.
Therefore, we will be operating on a two-hour delay for all students and all staff members at all campuses today, Monday, April 1st while we attempt to fix the problem.
We will provide families with an update as soon as possible and urge you to keep watching the news in the event that school is closed for the day.
In addition to alerting local media outlets, delay and cancellation notices will be posted to Asheville City Schools’ website and social media outlets.
