Local Audubon chapter hosts “Birds & Climate Change” watch party

Press release from Elisha Mitchell Audubon Society:

Join us for a Special “Watch Party” on Audubon’s Birds & Climate Change Report Thursday, Oct. 17 5:30 p.m.

Have you heard about Audubon’s new and ground-breaking report on birds and climate change?

Survival by Degrees: 389 Bird Species on the Brink shows that two-thirds of North American bird species are at risk of extinction from climate change.

The report’s results are sobering. But there is hope. And we can help. Do you want to learn more and find out ways to take action to save the birds we love? Join the Elisha Mitchell Audubon Society for a special Birds & Climate Change “Watch Party”.

When: This Thursday, Oct. 17 from 5:30-7 p.m.
Where: UNCA’s Reuter Center, Room 120, 1 University Heights, Asheville, NC 28804

We’ll be watching a Livestream of Audubon North Carolina’s Birds & Climate Change event taking place at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences in Raleigh. There will be a presentation and panel discussion featuring an author of the report from National Audubon, Audubon North Carolina staff, and the museum’s curator of ornithology.

Together we’ll explore how our fates are intertwined with birds and the actions we can take to save our shared future.

If you can’t make it Thursday, you can watch live on Facebook by clicking here.

EMAS events are free and open to everyone.
