For the last few years, the Southside Community has hosted an annual holiday celebration meal at the Edington Center on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. While we won’t be able to feed the community by preparing a meal, we are pleased to announce a special Southside Community Engagement Market on Monday, November 25 from 2:30p until 6:30p in the gymnasium of the Edington Center.
The Southside Community Engagement Market will provide food at no cost to the public, along with connections to services offered by Buncombe County Government and community partners like Southside Rising. We are expecting an abundance of fresh produce and staple food items plus limited supplies of protein and want to see everything go to residents who wish to prepare healthy meals for themselves and their loved ones this holiday season.
The Southside Community Engagement Market will be held at the Edington Center, formerly known as the WC Reid Center, located at 133 Livingston Street in Southside Asheville. Interested residents in Asheville Housing Authority communities who need transportation are encouraged to contact the Residents Council for details about shuttle service.

We’re still accepting donations! If you or someone you know would like to contribute, we are requesting single servings of meat. We would like all residents to have at least one meat. Suggested donations include:Cornish Hens
Roasting Chickens
Smaller portions of turkey meat, turkey breasts, thighs, or drumsticks.
