Press release from the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office:
“Thank you to our Buncombe County Commissioners for investing in our shared vision for 21st Century Policing. I am encouraged by our commissioners willingness to support the Sheriff’s Office and work hand-in-hand to find solutions to issues impacting our community such as the opioid epidemic,” says Buncombe County Sheriff Quentin Miller. “These budget increases will allow the Sheriff’s Office to implement our career ladder pay system, which will provide pay increases to our Deputies and Detention Officers if they complete additional training requirements and education goals.”
The FY22 budget passed by the commissioners also includes an increase in funding for training and the K-9 program at the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office.
The increases for the Enforcement division amount to $1.4 million in salary and nearly $600K in salary for the Detention division.
