The Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office invites our community to attend our National Night Out Event on August 1st. National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign promoting partnerships between law enforcement and the community. “We remain committed to creating a Community of WE and this event is another step in that direction. Thank you to the many sponsors, and community partners helping us host this event.” shares Buncombe County Sheriff, Quentin Miller.
The event will be hosted at the Buncombe County Sports Park offering recreational activities, a covered recreational shelter, and more. In addition to fun activities, the Sheriff’s Office will offer a fleet display, K-9 demonstrations, Chase from Paw Patrol, and the participation of many other public safety partners. “The Sheriff’s Office is excited to bring our community together for our National Night Out event with the support of our community and public safety partners. We hope our community is as eager as we are to find more opportunities for community collaboration and engagement. ” shares Sergeant of Support Operations Bryan Freeborn.
Additionally, this will be an opportunity for our community to discard any unneeded medications for safe disposal in partnership with The Partnership for Substance-Free Youth. Drug take-backs help prevent opioid abuse in Buncombe County and support an important way to prevent the flow of abused prescription drugs. This partnership will give the public an opportunity to prevent medication misuse by disposing of potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs.
Special thanks to Buncombe County Parks and Recreation, The Partnership for Substance-Free Youth, Asheville Fire Department, and many other partners joining us to host this community event.
