Asheville police seek public’s help in identifying armed robbers

From Asheville Police Department:

Asheville Police investigators are seeking the public’s help in identifying a pair of armed robbers who robbed a north Asheville grocery store at gunpoint Sunday night.

APD officers responded to a grocery store near the 900 block on Merrimon Avenue around 9:29 p.m. on July 28th to investigate an armed robbery. Upon arrival, grocery store employees told officers while walking back into the store with a money bag; they were approached by two masked men brandishing handguns demanding money. The employee dropped the bag, and the men then took the money bag and got into a dark-colored Subaru Crosstrek SUV with dealer tag, leaving the area. The employees were not injured.

APD detectives are investigating this case and are asking the public for any information they might have. The victims describe the suspects as two black males wearing masks.

If anyone has any information about the identity of these suspects or the vehicle they were driving, you are encouraged to contact APD at (828) 252-1110.  Or you can send an anonymous tip using the TIP2APD smartphone application (search “Asheville PD” in your app store) or by texting TIP2APD to 847411.
