The City of Asheville continues to provide Tropical Storm Helene recovery resource updates on a daily basis.
Expanded lead test kit distribution and pick-up
Starting tomorrow, December 12, lead test kits for customers who have requested a kit prior to December 11, will be available for pick-up at four locations.
Pick-up locations:
Asheville City Hall, 70 Court Plaza, on the first floor at customer service, from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Two parking spots are designated outside City Hall for test kit pick up and drop off.
North Asheville Library: 1030 Merrimon Ave., Tuesday through Saturday, 10:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.
East Asheville Library: 3 Avon Rd., Tuesday through Saturday, 10:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.
West Asheville Library: 942 Haywood Rd., Tuesday through Saturday, 10:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.
An AVL Alert will be sent to customers the day before their scheduled pickup time and designated location. The last day for pick-up for customers who requested a kit prior to December 11, will be December 19. The last day for drop off will be December 21.
Once tests are dropped off it will take 4-6 weeks to receive results. It’s important to note this test kit distribution is only for customers who requested a kit prior to December 11.

Storm Debris Removal Progress
To date, debris contractors have collected an impressive 175,685 cubic yards of storm debris. Recovery crews remain hard at work, locations of storm debris collections are posted daily on the storm debris management webpage.
Launch of Asheville Recovers Engagement Hub
The City of Asheville is excited to announce the launch of the Asheville Recovers Engagement Hub, a new online tool designed to keep the community informed and engaged in the recovery process. This interactive platform offers several key features, including:
Recovery progress updates for specific focus areas
Interactive Q&A forum where community members can ask questions and receive answers
Email alerts on recovery topics of interest
Holiday Skate Jam at Harrah’s Cherokee Center – Asheville
To foster community spirit this holiday season, Asheville Parks & Recreation, in partnership with the Harrah’s Cherokee Center – Asheville, invites residents to the Holiday Skate Jam on Friday, December 13, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
For one night only, the arena at Harrah’s Cherokee Center – Asheville will be transformed into a massive skating rink, complete with holiday music, festive decor, and fun for all ages. Residents are encouraged to bring their own roller or inline skates as rental skates will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. This is a free event and open to all ages. Free parking will be available at the Harrah’s Cherokee Center Garage.
